Don’t think you have enough room in your house to pull off a home office that’s earth-shatteringly cool?
The Back Yard Blues?
The Office Under the Stairs
No, it’s not a scary movie. It’s a really smart place to put a home office when you are pressed for space. With just enough room for a built in desk, making the most of your office under the stairs really depends on taking advantage of built-ins. From storage space to shelving this set up is all about maximizing what you already have and might possibly be the smallest, most efficient home office in the world.
Alcoves come in many shapes, sizes and locations but, this has got to be one of the coolest we’ve seen. Right at the end of the hall, along a bank of windows gives this little home office that decided to squeeze into the living room some great natural light.
What would this space have been otherwise? We’re thinking that it could have been a closet or guest bath but, it’s some much more functional and open as a home office and we’re digging the plush leather office chair too.
Shed You or Shedn’t You?
That is the question but, we think you should build a shed in your yard and christen it as your home office. It’s the perfect place to get away and sequester yourself in the great outdoors when you really need to think and get some work done. This home office “shed” by Sett Studio out of Austin, TX is rustic, modern and functional at the same time. We like the fact that there’s big windows for tons of natural light, lots of foliage and even a porch for those moments when you need a bit of fresh air.
The best part?
You’re still within walking distance of the kitchen when all that thinking works up an appetite.
No Space Is Too Small
This tiny closet proves that no space is too small for a home office. Although this space is incredibly small, there are a few really great things about it.
First, almost everyone has at least one tiny closet like this one in their home. So, even if you don’t have stairs, a backyard or a garage, there is still room for a home office.
Second, you don’t necessarily have to give up using it as a storage space completely. As you can see here, there is still plenty of space at the sides and up above to store things that are important to you. The key to making it work as an office space and storage area is finding ways to store things neatly such as using storage bins.
