These days, it seems that the living room is one of those rooms that doesn’t get a whole lot of love. Sure, you spend time there but, you probably don’t use the space as a means to entertain company as much as you would like to. So today, we are going to go back in time and revive some living room design ideas that will have your living room ready to party!
The term “living room” was actually coined at the turn of the 20th century as a means of describing what most people knew then as a parlour. Back then, people frequently entertained guests in their homes and those who didn’t have the benefit of having a parlour had an all in one room called a living room. It was a space that often did double duty as a lounge, drawing room, parlour and even a reception area.
Today, most people think of their living room in terms of the place where their television lives. In fact, most modern living rooms are poorly set up when it comes to entertaining guests. Instead, they’ve become more of a place to entertain ourselves without the guest in mind. So, here are a few ideas to turn your living room into a space that encompasses what it is truly meant for: living!
