One of the bigger home design trends that has been growing over the past few years is the use of geometric designs in the home. This really emerged in a big way earlier in 2013, as we have been seeing geometric patters exploding in home wares, wall papers, curtains and fabrics.
We all know that people love the clean lines of modern looks, but this style adds a really cool dimension. And, it can play well in a number of different design styles, from modern to contemporary and even mid-century. The reason why is that there are so many different options out there offering geometric styles and designs that can be incorporated into an overall design in a number of ways.
And, not only can geometric designs help bring some interesting looks and feels into the home, you can really look to geometric accessories to bring in the design without having to change much of your normal furniture. Take a look in a number of different home decor magazines, television shows and you will see a bunch of these types of designs popping up everywhere.
Here, we’ll look at just a few of the options out there offering some geometric design options.
One of the easiest ways to bring this look into the home is through fabric. A few throw pillows or blanket are all it takes to get some of this trend into your home. If you want to really go for a better integration of geometric fabrics, consider a side chair or even curtains in the room. And, for a bedroom, a geometric patterned headboard would be a great way to bring in elements of the look without going all in .
Another way to bring a more dramatic look to a room is to go all in and use wall paper to bring in the trend. If you are feeling very bold, consider papering your room in the geometric patterns you love. But, remember, if you do so keep the rest of the room relatively neutral, especially if the paper is in a very bold colour. For a look that is still memorable but has a little less drama use an accent wall to make the paper a wall of art.
Another easy way, as with fabrics, to bring in a pattern or design to a room is to look at accessories. Since the trend has been exploding this year, there are a number of different geometric designs available that will fit most any of your needs. People have been loving three dimensional geometric art on walls. Or, for something a bit more subdued, look to something like a table lamp with a geometric shade that is going to subtly bring in the theme without going overboard.
