Black and White VS Color
Black and white photographs can evoke feeling and emotions with just a mere glance. The contrast of the two shades and the creating of gray spaces and shadows often reflect the feelings and thoughts that fill our lives. Stark realities and hard choices mixing together, creating the gray areas of our lives; shadowy doubt and white hope; black and white photographs are powerful and moving. Additionally, black and white photographs can be easily matched with many different paint colors. The black, white and gray shades can be mixed with many of the primary colors to enhance the theme and mood of the room. For and extra powerful effect, red is a good choice to offset some black and white photos. Since black and white photos were the only option for many years, you will have many different images to choose from; everything from landscapes to images of history and culture long forgotten. Currently, black and white photography is considered a very artistic medium so there are modern and abstract photos in black in white that are available for home décor.
Color photographs can easily add warmth to an otherwise drab room. Also, color photography can help you choose the color scheme of a room. Images of desert cliffs and pinnacles showing off their red-orange dirt would be nicely complimented by tan or red-brown paint. The room would be rich and warm with the earth tones of the desert. The same process can be gone through with any photographs; you simply have to identify the primary color in the photograph and find paint that matches or compliments. If you struggle in the area of color matching you can always feel safe with white or cream. Colorful photos will dress up any room and you can be sure that most will hang well against a neutral colored wall.
