Guest Bathrooms

Guest bathrooms can be a lifesaver. For one an extra toilet in the house is never a bad idea and second, the guest bathroom is generally used less so it will be easier to keep clean. Here are some easy ways you can make your extra bathroom ready for guests.

1. Simple decorations- Keep the guest bathroom simply decorated. Soothing colors, a few candles, a picture and towels are really all that is needed in a guest bathroom. Since guest bathrooms are usually rather small you don’t want to cram it full of decorations or else it will feel crowded. A bathroom doesn’t need to be full of frills and flowers to be tasteful.

2. Keep spare toilet paper close- Nothing will embarrass a guest more than having to shout for extra toilet paper. Keep spare rolls under the sink or decoratively stowed on the back of the toilet.

3. Scent- Make sure that the guest bathroom smells fresh and inviting. Remember it is a small room so you don’t need too much air freshener to make it smell good. An overly perfumed bathroom can be just as big of a turn off as one that smells of bodily waste.

4. Spray freshener- If a guest does create a stench in the bathroom they will likely be slightly embarrassed. To make them feel better it is a good idea to keep a can of air freshener in the bathroom so they can try to cover up the odor if they desire.

5. Reading material- Some bathroom visits take longer than others and many people enjoy indulging in a good read while in the bathroom. So, consider having a small selection of tasteful reading material available for your guests. For the fastidious, there are even books created specifically for the bathroom. They are full of short stories, trivia and random facts.
