Having a home theater can be a real treat. There is nothing quite like seeing a massive 80, 100, 120 or even 150 inch image displayed in all its glory. When viewed in high-definition off a quality source, such as Blu-ray or a high-definition video game system, the end result can be completely stunning. However, in order to keep your home theater from being an eyesore, it is necessary that you avoid common design errors.
A home theater is clearly more than just a projector. The projector is obviously the foundation of any home theater, but it is far from the only component. You will also need a screen, of course. As it turns out, the type of screen you pick and how you install it can have a significant impact upon the look and feel of your home theater and your entire home. If you do not have a screen mounted on your wall, then you really only have one other option and that is to use entertainment or tv stands.
Just as you would want to cover up the legs of a table with a tablecloth if you were putting something on display, the same can be stated for your projector screen. Being able to see the metal stand of a freestanding projector screen is certainly not optimal from a design perspective. It may be 100% functional, but in terms of design, covering up with drapery is much better and easier on the eye.
Projectors do often have small speakers, but they are of virtually no real functional use in a home theater environment. This means that you will need speakers and an audio-visual receiver. Picking out speakers that are appropriate in size for the room is only part of the battle. Being able to get rid of all the wiring and finding a media cabinet to house all your electronic components is critically important from a design perspective. Just as you wish to hide all the wires in your office so that you can’t see them from your office chairs, the same can be stated for your home theater. Make sure that all these ugly wires are out of sight.
When your home theater is finished you really only want to be able to see your screen. You want people to feel as though this room in your home is a relaxing and comfortable place. Get a high-tech set-up, and hire an AV company to do the install if necessary. Invest in a few cozy black chairs for an optimal viewing experience. The end result will be a home theatre that keeps you and your family happy and entertained.
