There are thousands and thousands of entertainment centre’s to choose from today. Every store seems to carry some version of an entertainment centre or television stand. Before you begin shopping for anything new you should have in mind what you are looking for. Here are some things to consider before you make any purchases.

Metal: An all metal or mostly metal entertainment stand will probably have a very modern look. The design will generally be simple catering more to functionality than beauty. A metal entertainment centre will help to create a minimalist theme in your room.

Wood- Choosing wood as the material for your entertainment centre is a great option because it is so versatile. Wood can look classy and traditional or it can look modern and trendy. You can choose from different types of wood, which can give the centre a different look and feel. There are also so many different stains and painted woods, that you are sure to find something for your home. Many wooden entertainment centre’s are built with particle board or ply wood, so be sure to check that you are getting quality material before you buy.

Weight- This may seem a silly consideration, but weight is something that should not be ignored, especially if you live alone. If you purchase a solid wood entertainment centre, be prepared for at least some weight. Some woods are lighter than others, but in general anything that is solid wood is going to be heavy and hard to move. A heavy entertainment centre will also make rearranging difficult unless you only want to move the furniture around the entertainment centre. Just keep in mind who will be moving the centre before you purchase the solid oak entertainment centre.

Storage- Do you want something that just holds your television or do you want something that holds your television and provides space to store DVD’s and such? An entertainment centre that comes with storage can be a great way to clean up and organize the living room. But, if your budget is small, your television is small and your room is small, something simple with minimal storage may be just right for your room.
