The bathroom is one of the rooms in a home that should always smell nice, but doesn’t. As one of the most abused rooms in the house, the bathroom can harbour latent smells of toilet use, various perfumes, moisture and musty towels. Using specific cleaners and odor eliminating devices can bring this problem to an end with little cost or effort.
Cleaning your bathroom with bleach is one sure way of killing germs and odors, but then your bathroom smells like bleach, which isn’t much more desirable. Also bleach is harsh on your skin and if not cleaned up properly it can be a risk, especially to children. There are many bleach free alternatives that are naturally scented with things like lavender, orange, lemon or tea tree. These cleaners will leave your bathroom just as clean without an overwhelming smell.
Installing a plug in air freshener is also a helpful way of eliminating unwanted odors. Choosing fresh scents like mint, cinnamon, or eucalyptus will effectively freshen the air because they are all strong smells that usually absorb other odors in the air. One of the more efficient plug-in air fresheners is the ones that contain scented oil. The scent in the oil is more concentrated so it will work faster to freshen the air.
Using scented soap in your bathroom will not drastically affect the smell, but it will leave your hands smelling nice and create a small bubble sweet smell near the sink. Another obvious way to ensure that your bathroom does not smell bad is to clean it on a regular basis, especially the toilet. This does take time, but you will feel cleaner if you are bathing in clean bathroom. Installing a bathroom fan is also helpful because it can remove moisture from the air and help with air circulation.
