When most of us think about decorating our house or office with art we immediately think of paintings or photographs or anything that hangs on a wall. But, there is more to art décor than what can hang on a wall. We must not forget about the many talented potters, glass blowers, sculptors and carvers that also fill their world with their unique art.
Admittedly these pieces of art may present more of a challenge when being put on display, but that does not disqualify them from being a fine decoration. One easy way to display things that do not normally hand is by simply installing shelves. Shelves both high and low are the ideal way to display pots, blown glass, carved images or other like things.
One artful way to display carven images is to hang a shelf and behind the shelf hang pieces of colored material that will make the carved piece stand out. For instance a carving of a whale sitting on a shelf would look nice with ocean shaded materials setting it off. Carvings of African animals would look good with a back drop of rich browns and oranges. Be warned, if you have cats they may try to jump on the shelves and disrupt your carvings.
Curio cabinets are another great way of displaying fine art that is more delicate. If you are a collector of blown glass then this cabinet will show off your collection and keep it safe. Curios often fit well into a corner and can be made entirely of glass, giving your items maximum exposure, or they can be a glass wood combination, which is highly attractive too. Many curios also come with lights so that even in a dark room your collection will be the center of attention.
