One of my favorite things to do is window shop. My husband also prefers this method of shopping as it is very cheap. When I window shop I see all sorts of things that find their way on to my wish list. A new purse, some cool shoes, a lovely necklace, whatever the item is it sets me to thinking and dreaming. This is also true of home goods.
When my husband and I moved into our new house we loved going to the home remodeling stores and seeing all they had to offer. We’d walk down the bathroom aisle and see all sorts of things that would make our bathroom more functional or attractive. We’d do the same in the kitchen aisle, admiring all the different kinds of counter top and talking about which cabinets would best match.
If you are looking to redo any room in your home, just getting out and looking in different types of home stores can get the creative juices flowing. When you are in stores you can see and touch all the different kinds of faucets that you may want to replace yours with. Going to a furniture store may give you ideas on how you can redo your living room and what elements you want should add to give it a fresh look.
Going idea hunting is fun on your own but having a partner along can make it more fun. With two people you can talk about what you each like and dislike and what you agree on. You can bounce ideas off one another and just enjoy the company of another person while you explore design ideas. When you go out on these ventures try having a camera on hand that way if you really like something you will be able to have picture of it when it is time to start purchasing things. Just be weary, some store do not like pictures being taken in their stores so you may have to ask permission before snapping a shot.
