Towel Tips

Towels are an essential part of any bathroom. We simply must have them unless we intend on air drying after showers and hand washing. Fifty years ago buying towels may have been based on whatever was available, but today we can buy towels anywhere, in any color, made from different material, for almost any price. Here are some things to consider before you go out towel shopping for you bathroom.

1. Color- Matching your towels to the color of your bathroom walls can give your bathroom a very nice and orderly appeal. Having matching and contrasting colored towels hanging in your bathroom can complete the décor scheme while providing function. One thing to consider before buying certain colors is fading. Some colors fade more easily than other. Be especially weary of red, which can easily fad to a shade of pink over time.

2. Size- Know what size towels you want and need for your bathroom. Do you like wrapping up in your towel after a shower or do you simply dry off and call it good? Your preference will determine the size of towel you should buy. Bath sheets are great for wrapping up in, but for just drying, the standard sized towel will do just fine.

3. Price- Know your budget before you start shopping. High end towels can be extremely expensive so if you want something luxurious you may have to buy just one or two at a time. The price range will also vary based on how big the towel is and what it is made of. Usually purchasing something middle of the line is a safe bet. You will pay for respectable quality but not luxury.

4. Material- You can buy towels made from terry cloth, regular cotton, Egyptian cotton, bamboo or just about anything. You can even buy large micro-fiber shams that will wick away the water. If you are not sure what kind of towel you want you can do internet research and just look through different stores to get a feel for what you like.
